ROMERO SIGNS NEW CONTRACT AT UNITED

Image
Manchester United is delighted to announce that Sergio Romero has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until June 2021, with the option to extend for a further year. Romero, 30, joined the club in July 2015. The Argentinian World Cup finalist made his debut on 27th August 2015 and has gone onto make 28 appearances for the club, with the most recent being the UEFA Europa League final victory over AFC Ajax in Stockholm. Sergio Romero said: “I am delighted to have signed a new contract.  Who wouldn’t want to be at the biggest club in the world?  We have great goalkeepers here and we are always learning from each other. Of course, it was a very proud moment for me and my family to be part of the Europa League final, and I am looking forward to helping the team build on last season’s success in 2017/18.” José Mourinho said: “Sergio is a great goalkeeper and professional.  He had a good season and outstanding performances, especially in our Europa League su

Zlatan Ibrahimovic rejects £6.5m LA Galaxy offer: He wants to rejoin Man Utd

Image
ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC has reportedly rejected a £6.5million offer from MLS side LA Galaxy in a bid to rejoin Manchester United. Ibrahimovic joined  Manchester United  last summer and went on to score 28 goals in an excellent season but his campaign was cut short when he suffered a knee injury in April.   With the 35-year-old not expected back until towards the end of the year, United opted to release him from his contract. But Ibrahimovic has made clear he is determined to play football again and not retire - a decision that has led to interest from MLS sides LA Galaxy and Los Angeles FC. But Italian outlet Calciomercato say Ibrahimovic has turned down a £6.5m contract from LA Galaxy because he want to play for United again. And last week, United boss Jose Mourinho was open to the idea of Ibrahimovic returning in January. He said: “Possible, it’s open, of course we wanted to be honest and open and let everything for him to make the decision. “At the same time let’

Wayne Rooney gives Romelu Lukaku a piece of advice for Manchester United career

Image
Wayne Rooney has warned Romelu Lukaku he must show mental strength if he wants to be a success at Manchester United. United snared Lukaku from Everton in a move reportedly worth an initial £75million on Monday, the striker signing a five-year contract with an option of a sixth. That followed Rooney making an emotional return to Goodison Park by moving in the other direction, 13 years after initially leaving for Old Trafford, where he became the club's all-time record goalscorer. Rooney, 31, believes Lukaku has the ability to succeed for Jose Mourinho's side, but must avoid self-doubt if he is to handle the scrutiny of playing for such a massive side. "Playing for Manchester United is a test of character," Rooney, who scored a wondergoal in his second Everton debut against Gor Mahia on Thursday, told reporters. You've got to be strong enough mentally to accept the challenge. United are a football club that demands success. Romelu has to be strong enou

Adnan Januzaj: Man Utd agree fee of about £9.8m with Real Sociedad

Image
Manchester United have agreed a fee of about £9.8m with Real Sociedad for Belgium winger Adnan Januzaj. Januzaj, 22, was told he could find another club this summer by United manager Jose Mourinho. He returned from an unsuccessful campaign  on loan at Sunderland  and was left out of Mourinho's squad for the pre-season tour of the United States. Januzaj, who has also had a stint  on loan at Borussia Dortmund  in 2015-16, is set to have a medical on Wednesday. Januzaj  joined United from Anderlecht  when he was 16 and broke into the first team in 2013 during David Moyes' ill-fated spell in charge. Deemed good enough to take Ryan Giggs' number 11 shirt, Januzaj signed a five-year contract extension that was not due to expire until 2018. Real Sociedad finished sixth in La Liga last season and will compete in the Europa League group stage in 2017-18.

Manchester United closing in on world-record transfer deal for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku

Image
Manchester United  are set to hijack  Chelsea’s  summer move for  Everton  striker  Romelu Lukaku , according to reports. The Belgian appeared on the verge of a return to Stamford Bridge after another superb season at Goodison Park, in which he scored 25 Premier League goals. But United have held interest in Lukaku for several months and the  Daily Mail  say Jose Mourinho is ready to spend £100million to bring him to Old Trafford. The Portuguese boss is in the market for a star striker after Zlatan Ibrahimovic was released by the club following a serious injury. Mourinho made Antoine Griezmann his priority target earlier in the summer but, after missing out on the Atletico Madrid man, has turned to alternative targets. The Belgium international has scored 53 goals since joining the Toffees in 2014, developing into one of the most formidable strikers in Europe. The Toffees are resigned to losing Lukaku in the coming weeks but will hold out for £100m and could also attempt

Radja Nainggolan to United?

Image
Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan is a top-class player but his Indonesian heritage adds to the appeal for Manchester United's marketing department, writes Adam Bate. Manchester United's global appeal is extraordinary and that is seldom more apparent than in Indonesia. A club-commissioned study once calculated that they have as many as 54.5 million supporters in the country. Indeed, the official United supporters' club in Indonesia boasts almost one million Twitter followers and is the largest group anywhere in the world. So it is fair to say that the reports linking Radja Nainggolan with a summer move to Old Trafford have caused something of a stir on the streets of Jakarta and beyond. The Roma midfielder may be a Belgium international but there is more to his heritage than that. Nainggolan's father Marianus is from Indonesia, a fact that the player takes great pride in. "I grew up with the desire to discover the great culture of these two very different c

Ivan Perisic putting pressure on Inter Milan to agree Manchester United transfer

Image
Ivan Perisic is prepared to put pressure on Inter Milan to ensure the Italian club come to an agreement with  Manchester United  over a summer transfer, reports say. Perisic has emerged as one of Jose Mourinho’s priority targets and it appeared United would clinch a deal when Inter were forced to meet Financial Fair Play regulations last month. But the Serie A outfit were able to hit the target with a series of smaller deals, and reports from Italy suggested Inter were hopeful of keeping hold of the Croatian star. However, according to  La Repubblica , Perisic is now ready to force through his move to Old Trafford as he is keen on a switch to England and the chance to play under Mourinho. It is claimed United have so far been unwilling to table a bid in excess of €30m while Inter are holding out for at least €50m.

MAN UTD HOPE TO COMPLETE MORATA DEAL

Image
Manchester United are aiming to complete the signing of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata before they travel to the United States on Sunday, reports the  Manchester Evening News  . Morata is Jose Mourinho’s primary target to fill the No.9 role at United this summer following the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. A £60 million fee has been mooted for Morata and United hope to get the deal done before they head off to America to start their pre-season tour.

Private jet from Madrid lands in Manchester as Man Utd close in on deal for Alvaro Morata

Image
The jet is believed to have touched down in Manchester last night - and United fans think Morata is on his way. Manchester United are desperate to make Alvaro Morata their new striker and have held talks with Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho wants to be reunited with the Spain star, who he gave a Madrid debut to, at Old Trafford. The Madrid president is keen to get top dollar for the 24-year-old as he looks to replace him with Kylian Mbappe. And now the news of a plane landing in Manchester has given United fans hope that a deal is close. According to Flight Aware the plane took off from Madrid and landed in Manchester last night. United have also been spuriously linked with James Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo, while David de Gea has been linked with a move the other way. Mourinho is said to be growing frustrated at United’s transfer business so far this summer with only Victor Lindelof through the door so far.

ANDERSON RECALLS 2008 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL PENALTY NERVES FOR MAN UTD

Image
The Brazilian, who spent eight years with the Red Devils before leaving in 2015, netted the penultimate penalty in United's famous victory in Moscow. United went 5-4 ahead after Anderson, who came on as a substitute in extra time, beat Petr Cech before Salomon Kalou replied for Chelsea. But United's victory was soon wrapped up after Edwin van der Sar denied Nicolas Anelka on the back of Ryan Giggs successfully converting for Sir Alex Ferguson's men. And Anderson has since revealed that he was petrified ahead of his spot kick, telling  Radio Grenal : “I came on to take the penalty. I hadn't touched the ball. “I was sitting on the bench, Giggs looked and said: "Get Anderson to take one". I said "Oh my". I took the ball, it was the longest walk of my life. “I came with the ball, there is no way I wouldn't be shaking. I was already shaking. I was terrified. The story of a club and our fans were on that side. “I went to the ball, I got

United will sign four players in the summer'

Image
“United are obviously looking to add to the squad, we know that, that is not a secret,” Dwight Yorke told Sky Sports. “It’s all about the quality that is brought in. I’m sure Jose’s got his targets like every other manager. “I think that Manchester United being the richest club in the world, in the Champions League as well, things are looking pretty up. “I believe that come the start of the season we will get three or four quality players in and make sure we are competitive enough and raring to win the Premier League this season.”

Fabinho: Manchester United move would tempt Monaco midfielder

Image
Fabinho scored 11 goals in 50 matches in all competitions last season A move to Manchester United "would be very tempting", says Monaco midfielder Fabinho, who has been linked with the Old Trafford club. The 23-year-old scored 11 goals in 50 matches in all competitions last season as his side won the Ligue 1 title. United have so far added defender Victor Lindelof to their squad as they attempt to improve on last year's sixth place in the Premier League. Manchester United is a great team and I would think about it," Fabinho said. "If [Manchester United manager Jose] Mourinho invites me it would be very tempting," he told Brazilian television channel Esporte Interativo. "But I would have to talk with my agent and Monaco to make the things right." Fabinho joined Monaco in 2013 on loan from Portuguese side Rio Ave and made his move permanent in 2015, when he also won the first of four caps for Brazil. But having claimed the Europa

How could Manchester United line up next season, should their major transfer targets complete their moves to Old Trafford?

Image
Last season may have ended with Europa League glory - taking United back into the Champions League for the first time in three seasons - but even the most ardent Old Trafford optimist would hesitate to label 2016/17 a success, as, for a club of United's stature and transfer outlay, sixth in the Premier League is not good enough. In his second season at the United helm, Jose Mourinho will be under pressure to at least mount some form of title tilt, especially with some big-money signings set to expand an already costly squad. But where would these new arrivals fit into the Mourinho masterplan? What system will the arch-pragmatist deploy? Here are our picks and then have your say…

Man United eye 15-goals Bundesliga striker as new summer target

Image
According to the Goal, Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho is planning a summer move for Werder Bremen attacker Max Kruse in the summer transfer window. It is believed that the Red Devils have abandoned their plans to sign Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann and are pursuing other attacking targets ahead of the 2017/18 season.  The same sources also claim that Germany international Max Kruse is firmly on Jose Mourinho’s radar this summer off the back of the 29-year-old’s barnstorming end to the Bundesliga campaign. Kruse has managed to score 15 goals in 23 Bundesliga matches for Bremen and his goalscoring exploits appear to have put the Premier League giants on red alert. Alongside Kruse, other top-class strikers including Alvaro Morata, Romelu Lukaku and Andrea Belotti are also being considered by Man United but the German is viewed as a cheaper alternative. Meanwhile, United could swoop for Borussia Dortmund attacking sensation Ousmane Dembele in the summer tr

Manchester United appear to have hinted Wayne Rooney could stay

Rooney’s future at Old Trafford remains far from certain. But the club posted a picture of their away kit launch on Facebook. And Rooney appeared along with Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera. 02:30: Chelsea star Nemanja Matic wants to link up with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. That is according to The Sun, who say the Serbia international is keen on a move to Old Trafford. Mourinho wants to sign a midfielder to coax the best out of Paul Pogba. And Matic could now make the move, with the midfielder reportedly concerned he has played his last game under Antonio Conte.  00:00: Manchester United are yet to bid for any of Real Madrid trio Cristiano Ronaldo, Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez. Real chief Florentino Perez said: "There have been no offers for Ronaldo by anyone - Morata and James as well," Perez told Onda Cero and Radio MARCA. "We think these players are all good after a great season.  “If there is anything to do, it will be do
