Manchester United open talks with Everton over £24m January move

Everton are in talks with Manchester United over a possible £24million move for Morgan Schneiderlin after Jose Mourinho said he would not stand in the way of the French midfielder moving in January. The United boss has allowed Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay, who have not made a single Premier League start this season, to leave once the transfer window opens if they can find new clubs. Everton manager Ronald Koeman is keen to sign Schneiderlin, with whom he worked at Southampton, and take Dutch compatriot Depay on loan. Premier League rules prevent Everton from taking two players on loan from the same club. Each player cost £25million in the summer of 2015 but Mourinho said: 'I am always open to listen to offers for every player.  'Any player who knocks on my door and is not happy and wants to move, when the offers are correct, I will never stop a player from leaving, even if it is to a rival. When Mata left Chelsea to come to United, no problem at all. I am always o

DE GEA: REDS ARE READY FOR PALACE TEST Goalkeeper David De Gea has shed some light on how Manchester United’s players are managing the demands of a busy fixture schedule. Three days after beating Tottenham Hotspur and less than a week after playing in Ukraine, the Reds are back in action at Crystal Palace tonight [Wednesday], before visiting West Bromwich Albion on Saturday. De Gea admits that, at this time of the year, the players have to prioritise rest and recuperation, with the next test always just around the corner – though he knows United can now concentrate on Premier League matters, with the cup competitions put on the backburner until the New Year. "At the moment, the most important thing for the players is recovery, because we’re playing a game every three days," the Spaniard told  MUTV .  "So we recover, then train a bit, watch videos of the teams and try to be ready for the games. "Now we have only the league games and, of course, we need t

Zlatan Ibrahimovic feels he could have been 'even more phenomenal'

Zlatan Ibrahimovic wishes his 25-year-old self could have had his current mindset so he could have been "even more phenomenal But he feels his game has evolved with age and wishes he could combine the experience he has accumulated with the athleticism he possessed in his younger days "I think I play much more intelligently now because, of course, you change a lot during the years," Ibrahimovic said. "You get a different physique; you get a different condition, strengths and experiences. But I wish I had the mind that I have today 10 years ago, because then I will be even more phenomenal." Ibrahimovic has scored eight goals in 14 Premier League games for United this season. Jose Mourinho made signing the veteran striker a priority after succeeding Louis van Gaal and has  already indicated he intends to trigger an option to keep Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford next season Ibrahimovic says he has become less focused on scoring goals and instead has

MOURINHO HAPPY TO KEEP SQUAD TOGETHER

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho insists he is keen to keep his squad together throughout the January transfer window and has promised that everybody will get a chance. Referencing the way Phil Jones has grasped his opportunity in the first team, the manager feels there is always a chance for somebody to make a breakthrough if their attitude is right. He has also explained how a call-up could come at an unexpected time. Mourinho was asked about Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin by the press and replied: "I’m always open to listening to offers, for every player. More than listening for offers, I’m always ready to listen to the players themselves.  "Any player that knocks on my door and is not happy or wants to move, if the offer is correct, I will never stop a player leaving, even if it’s to a rival. When [Juan] Mata left Chelsea to come to United, no problem at all, no problem at all in my mentality. I’m always open.  "What I can say is that I’m happy

Mats Hummels heaped praise on former team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan and said the easiest way to get the best of the Manchester United attacker is by playing him Mkhitaryan was a big-money signing from Borussia Dortmund in the off-season but the Armenia captain's first season in England has been difficult, often out-of-favour under United manager Jose Mourinho. The 27-year-old made only his second start of the Premier League season since September in United's 1-1 draw at Everton on Sunday, having impressed Mourinho with his pace and creativity in the Europa League and EFL Cup. And Bayern Munich and Germany centre-back Hummels - who played alongside the Armenian at Dortmund - advised Mourinho to believe in Mkhitaryan. "If you let him play, you will see how good he is. I am 100 per cent sure of this He is one of the best I have played with. But if you can't play, you can't shine. It's easy! It's really easy! "I saw part of the game against Fe
